Here are the answers to some of the most common questions….
Travelling
Where is the nearest train station & bus stop?
We are in a rural location approximately 4 miles from Ashbourne. The nearest train stations are at Derby, Uttoxeter or Belper. There is a bus station in Ashbourne with is a bus stop located 2 miles from the farm (A517 Belper Road). If travelling by public transport, we would recommend using a taxi or Uber from Ashbourne.
Can I charge my EV electric vehicle/bike?
Yes we have a shared Voltshare 7.5kW EV charger onsite, perfect for those arriving in electric or hybrid cars.
Is there parking near to the accommodation?
Yes there is a private parking area within 40m of the cabin or pod.
How far are the pods and cabin from a main road?
The farm is located approximately 2 miles from a main road and is accessed along a single track road with limited passing places so reversing may be necessary. This road leads to the farm drive (limestone track).
Can I arrive by Taxi?
Yes, a number of guests do use Uber and other taxi services to travel to us. However, please bear in mind that the farm is in a rural location with the nearest bus stop being 35-45 minutes walk. There are no shops within walking distance of the farm so we recommend that guests prepare for this prior to arrival.
Local Facilities
Where is the nearest shop?
We have a small Honesty Shop onsite which stocks firewood, charcoal, snacks and essentials. There are a wide variety of shops in Ashbourne (4 miles) including independent butchers, delicatessens and supermarkets. There is also a farm shop at Hulland Ward selling some fantastic local produce.
Is there a pub close by which serves food?
The Red Lion at Kniveton is 3 miles by car or a 40-50 minute walk across fields following public footpaths (appropriate footwear recommended and a understanding of the Countryside Code).
Can I walk from the farm?
Yes, there are lots of walks along footpaths and bridleways from the farm gate including a circular route into the beautiful village of Atlow, a circular walk to Kniveton which can include a stop off at The Red Lion or a longer route to Hognaston or Bradbourne.
There are walking maps in the Info Room and we recommend appropriate footwear / clothing and an understanding of the Countryside Code).
Can I order takeaway food?
There are a number of takeaways in Ashbourne and whilst some will deliver to the accommodation, it is recommended that you collect takeway food from the town.

How do I check availability and book at stay?
You can check live availability on our website and book a stay through our online booking system.
What time can we arrive?
Arrival time is from 3pm and departure time is 10am (unless your departure time is extended)
Can I hire bikes?
Cycle hire is available in Ashbourne, you can contact https://www.thebikebarnashbourne.co.uk/ to arrange or if you’d like to try an ebike adventure https://ebike-escapes.co.uk/ these can be delivered onsite ready for your stay.
Are you open in the winter?
Yes, we are open year round, the pods are fully insulated & have heaters.
Is the accommodation suitable for families?
Lavender Pod can accommodate upto 2 adults and 2 children and is ideal for families with children.
Are gift vouchers available?
Yes you can purchase gift vouchers on our website for any amount (minimum purchase £50).
Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?
Yes! We proudly welcome EVERYONE at Mulino of all genders and sexual orientation. We offer a welcoming and inclusive space for all and celebrate diversity.
Pets and Dogs
Can we bring a dog?
Yes all our pods are pet friendly and can accommodate up to 2 dogs.
Is there an extra charge for my dog?
Yes, dogs are charged at £25 per stay.
Can I walk my dog from the site?
Yes there are some beautiful local walks from the farm gate.
Is there a dog exercise field nearby?
The nearest dog exercise field is 3 miles from the farm near Ashbourne.
Can dogs be left alone?
No, dogs should be supervised at all times whilst onsite and not left alone in the cabin or pods.
Facilities and Amenities
Is there heating in the pods and cabin?
Yes all our accommodation has electric heating and is fully insulated.
Do you provide towels?
Towels are provided for Ewe Lodge only.
Are any of your pods or cabin ensuite?
Ewe Lodge has an ensuite bathroom. Bluebell, Damson and Lavender pods all have shared bathrooms.
Is WiFi available to use?
Yes there is WiFi available to use free of charge across the site.
Is there a firepit and BBQ available to us?
There is a firepit and charcoal BBQ at each of our Pods. Firewood, fire packs and charcoal is available to purchase in our Honesty Shop.
Do you allow fireworks onsite?
No, due to the risks to our own animals on the farm and other guests dogs, fireworks are strictly prohibited.
Is there a hot tub onsite?
No, none of our pods or cabin have a hot tub.
Do I need to keep my dog on a lead?
As we have livestock grazing in the fields around the farm, we ask that dogs are kept on a lead when walking from the cabin and pods.
Is there are microwave and hob in the Pod?
Only the larger Lavender Pod kitchenette has a microwave and oven. There is also a sink and fridge with small freezer compartment.
