Booking your stay
How do I check availability and book a stay?
You can check live availability for each of our properties on our website then book a stay through our online booking system.
Do you do a one night stay in your glamping pods?
During Autumn and Winter we do offer one night midweek stays with the occasional last minute one weekend stays released when available. You can check live availability for each of our properties on our website and book a stay
What time can we arrive?
Arrival time is from 3pm and departure time is 10am (unless your departure time is extended)
What time do we need to leave?
Departure time is 10am (unless you have purchased a booking extra with extended departure time- Sundays only)
Are you open in the winter?
Yes, we are open year round, the pods are fully insulated & have heaters.
Is the accommodation suitable for families?
Yes, Lavender Pod is ideal for families with children and can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children or up to 4 adults (two sleeping in bunk beds).

Can I hire bikes?
Cycle hire is available in Ashbourne, you can contact https://www.thebikebarnashbourne.co.uk/ to arrange or if you’d like to try an ebike adventure https://ebike-escapes.co.uk/ these can be delivered onsite ready for your stay.
Are gift vouchers available?
Yes you can purchase gift vouchers on our website for any amount (minimum purchase £50).
Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?
Yes! We proudly welcome everyone at Mulino of all genders and sexual orientation. We offer a welcoming and inclusive space for all and celebrate diversity.
Is your accommodation suitable for solo travellers?
Yes, the pods and cabin are great for single travellers. The peaceful, rural location is favoured by many solo guests who report having a very restful stay and feeling safe in the surroundings.
What happens if I am ill and cannot stay?
We recommend that guests have suitable Travel Insurance for themselves and their party. We do offer optional refund protection through ‘XCover Protection’ provided by Booking Protect which can be purchased when placing a booking on our website. Travelling, EV Charging & Parking
Where is the nearest train station & bus stop?
We are in a rural location approximately 4 miles from Ashbourne. The nearest train stations are at Derby, Uttoxeter or Belper. There is a bus station in Ashbourne and the nearest bus stop is located 2 miles from the farm (A517 Belper Road). If travelling by public transport, we would recommend using a taxi or Uber from Ashbourne.
Can I arrive by Taxi?
Yes, a number of guests do use Uber and other taxi services to travel to us. However, please bear in mind that the farm is in a rural location with the nearest bus stop being 35-45 minutes walk. There are no shops within walking distance of the farm so we recommend that guests prepare for this prior to arrival.
How far are the pods and cabin from a main road?
The farm is located approximately 2 miles from a main road and is accessed along a single track road with limited passing places so reversing may be necessary. This road leads to the farm drive (limestone track).
Is there parking near to the accommodation?
Yes there is a private parking area within 40m of the cabin or pod.
Can I charge my EV electric vehicle/bike?
Yes we have a shared Voltshare 7kW EV charger (untethered Type 2 / Socket) onsite, perfect for those arriving in electric or hybrid cars. Please remember to bring your own cable. Take a look at our handy EV Charging Guest Guide (PDF download also available).
Where is the EV charger located?
The EV charging bay is located in the car park next to the glamping pods (Bluebell Pod, Damson Pod and Lavender Pod) and approximately 120m from Ewe Lodge. Take a look at our handy EV Charging Guest Guide (PDF download also available) for more information.
Food, Drink & Local Produce
Can I buy eggs from the farm during my stay?
Yes, we sell pasture-raised, free-range eggs produced on the farm which are usually available in the Honesty Shop.
Where is the nearest shop?
We have a small Honesty Shop onsite which stocks firewood, charcoal, snacks and essentials. There are a wide variety of shops in Ashbourne (4 miles) including independent butchers, delicatessens and supermarkets. There is also a farm shop at Hulland Ward selling some fantastic local produce.
Is there a pub close by which serves food?
The Red Lion at Kniveton is 3 miles by car, or a 40 to 50 minute walk across fields on public footpaths. Sturdy footwear is recommended, and please follow the Countryside Code. Our Guest Guide and Map sets out the walking route with a map.
Can I walk from the farm?
Yes. Footpaths and bridleways lead directly from the farm gate. There is a circular route into the village of Atlow, a circular walk to Kniveton that can take in the Red Lion, and longer routes towards Hognaston and Bradbourne. Walking maps are in the Info Room, and our Guest Guide covers the walk to the Red Lion in detail. We recommend suitable footwear and clothing, and please follow the Countryside Code.
Can I order takeaway food?
There are a number of takeaways in Ashbourne and whilst some will deliver to the accommodation, it is recommended that you collect takeaway food from the town.
The accommodation
Is there heating in the pods and cabin?
Yes, all our accommodation (Ewe Lodge, Bluebell Pod, Damson Pod and Lavender Pod) has electric heating and is fully insulated.
Do you provide towels?
Towels are provided for Ewe Lodge only.
Is bed linen included?
Yes, bed linen is provided for all beds.
Are any of your pods or cabin ensuite?
Is there a microwave and hob in the Pods?
Only the larger Lavender Pod kitchenette has a microwave and hob. There is also a sink and fridge with small freezer compartment.
Is there a sink in the Pod?
Lavender Pod has a larger kitchenette with a sink (hot and cold water). There is also a hob, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment.
Is there a firepit and BBQ available to us?
There is a firepit and charcoal BBQ at each of our Pods. Firewood, fire packs and charcoal is available to purchase in our Honesty Shop.
Is there a hot tub onsite?
No, none of our pods or cabin have a hot tub.
Is WiFi available to use?
Yes there is WiFi available to use free of charge across the site.
Can I bring fireworks?
No, due to the risks to our own animals on the farm and other guests dogs, fireworks are strictly prohibited.
Bringing your dog
Can we bring a dog?
Yes, Ewe Lodge, Bluebell Pod, Damson Pod and Lavender Pod are all pet friendly and can accommodate up to 2 dogs.
Is there an extra charge for my dog?
Yes, there is an additional charge of £25 per dog per stay.
How many dogs can stay?
Each accommodation is suitable for up to 2 dogs. Bluebell Pod, and Damson Pod are smaller and only suitable for 2 small to medium dogs and whilst Lavender Pod is slightly larger, only 2 medium dogs are recommended due to the restricted floor space. Ewe Lodge has more internal space and an enclosed garden which wraps around the lodge.
Can I walk my dog from the site?
Yes there are some beautiful local walks from the farm gate. Take a look at our Explore page with lots of local walking routes including Dovedale and to the Red Lion at Kniveton.
Is there a dog exercise field nearby?
The nearest dog exercise field is 3 miles from the farm near Ashbourne.
Can dogs be left alone?
No, dogs should be supervised at all times whilst onsite and not left alone in the cabin or pods.
Do I need to keep my dog on a lead?
As we have livestock grazing in the fields around the farm, we ask that dogs are kept on a lead when walking from the cabin and pods.
Is my guide dog allowed?
Yes, guide dogs and assistance dogs are welcome in all of our accommodation. Take a look at our Access and Accessibility Guide for further information.
Access and Accessibility
Is the accommodation suitable for wheelchair users?
Unfortunately not, the routes between the parking, the units and the shared facilities building involve steps and changes in level, and every unit has at least one step to enter, so none of our accommodation is suitable for wheelchair users. Which accommodation is best if I have limited mobility?
Ewe Lodge is the most suitable accommodation if you have restricted mobility. The parking is level and on gravel, with steps along the path to the lodge. There are up to two steps to enter, and once inside the main living space is all on one level with no internal steps. Our Access and Accessibility Guide sets out exactly what to expect.
Are assistance dogs or guide dogs welcome?
Yes, assistance dogs are welcome at all of our accommodation. Take a look at our Access and Accessibility Guide for further information.
Are there steps to the glamping pods and cabin?
Every accommodation unit at Mulino Lodge has at least one step to enter. All parking is level and on gravel, and every stepped route has a handrail.

The farm and our environment
Where does your electricity come from?
We have a 10kW wind turbine which provides renewable electricity to the farm and holiday accommodation with our remaining electricity coming from the National Grid. We hope to shortly install Solar PV panels on our barn roof to increase onsite renewable energy generation.
Where does your water come from?
We supply the accommodation from our own farm spring borehole supply which provide an industry tested chemical free water source. We also collect and use rainwater for grey water uses across the farm such as watering.
Do you plant new hedgerows on the farm?
We’ve planted 215 metres of new hedgerow and completed 146 metres of hedgelaying in recent years. We hope to carry out a further 87 metres of new hedgerow planting next year to further reinforce our commitment to the environment and improving biodiversity across the farm.
Where does the firewood for the firepits and log burner come from?
Most of it comes from coppicing and hedgerow management on the farm itself, with any extra bought from a local supplier using sustainable, local sources.
Do you provide eco cleaning products and handwash?
Yes we provide refillable eco products across the site including handwash, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets (Ewe Lodge only) and cleaning products.
Do you provide recycling facilities?
Yes, we strongly encourage guests to use the recycling containers at each accommodation unit and within the communal areas. We recycle plastics, tins, bottles, cardboard and paper. We also compost all food waste on the farm.
Site rules
Do you allow fireworks onsite?
No, due to the risks to our own animals on the farm and other guests dogs, fireworks are strictly prohibited.
Are disposable BBQ's allowed onsite?
No, due to fire risk, disposable BBQ’s are not permitted onsite.
Am I allowed to walk around the farm?
During certain times of the year, guests can walk around the top meadow which has an amazing panoramic view. This meadow along with other meadows on the farm are closed off during spring and summer to grow animal feed and allow undisturbed space for ground nesting birds. Many of the fields around the farm also have livestock grazing so it not possible to allow guests access.
There are however lots of bridleways, footpaths and quiet country lanes accessed straight from the farm gate providing miles of walking around the area.
