Today was scanning day for our sheep flock and yes we have our first expectant mother carrying four lambs!
The time of year when the excitement begins to build in readiness for lambing. We are always apprehensive before the flock is scanned and question whether the boys have been doing their job and if the females are healthly to carry a pregnancy.
The good news…..
We had great results from our scan with each ewe carrying almost an average of 2 lambs each. This is exactly what we would like as with each ewe having two teats, this is ideal for raising two lambs.
Staying on the farm during lambing
Lambing starts on the farm in early April and there are usually lots of baby lambs in the fields around the farm throughout April and early May. Bringing new life into the world is such a joy and despite the late nights and early mornings, lambing the flock is a very rewarding task.
There’s nothing quite like a stay during lambing and enjoy the simple joy of new life unfolding around the farm
